Barret started his career in the construction industry working in the family plumbing business in Florida — a formative experience that instilled a strong work ethic and an understanding that success is generated by hard work. After college, he worked in Atlanta for Haines Gipson and Associates during the booming retail development era of the early 2000s, then spent 2003 to 2010 with two Triad-area firms — an engineering design firm and a design/construction management firm. Observing firsthand how designs translate into actual construction gave him a practical perspective that other engineers rarely acquire, and ultimately led to the founding of Hagen Engineering in 2010.
Barret has relocated to Knoxville, Tennessee, where he leads Hagen Engineering's Tennessee operations — working directly with developers and municipalities throughout East Tennessee while staying involved in every project to ensure clients receive the best work product the firm can provide across all eight licensed states.
Tim grew up in Charlottesville, Virginia and studied civil engineering at Virginia Tech, focusing on Land Development Design and Water Resources with a minor in Green Engineering. Since joining Hagen Engineering, Tim has obtained his PE license in five states and worked with municipalities of all sizes across the Southeast. As VP of Operations, he brings an innovative yet practical approach that ensures cost-effective final results for each client.
